Following its awards hosted in 2015 and 2017, Shell LiveWIRE launched its 2018 “Top Ten Innovators” awards to praise and reward young entrepreneurs that demonstrate excellence in innovation. With three unique categories around the theme of “sustainability,” visitors could cast their votes directly within the campaign page for who they’d like to see crowned the winner!
Marketing campaign objectives
- Reward exceptional examples of innovation by entrepreneurs supported by the program

“Top Ten Innovators” awards solution
With business innovation and young entrepreneurship at the core of what Shell LiveWIRE represents, Shell’s awards campaign brought together its whole community to celebrate the most impressive innovative ideas around the theme of “sustainability.” With three categories — Energy Solutions, Retail Supply Chain, and Social Enterprises — the “Top Ten Innovators” awards aimed to recognize the brightest solutions from young entrepreneurs across the globe. To incentivize participation, three crowned winners were awarded $20,000 to pursue their business ideas, and all winners and runners up were presented an exclusive award package, including the exciting chance to have full mentoring support from a Shell expert, a two-day event ticket, global exposure and much more!
Open to alumni of Shell LiveWIRE across 19 countries, Shell LiveWIRE used Marigold Grow to host a voting activation on its website. With 21 finalists to choose from, visitors could watch a short video clip that summarizes each innovative idea before casting their vote on the entrepreneur that most deserved to win among their category. To drive first-party data acquisition, participants could then complete their entry by submitting their personal details to the form provided, including their name, email address and country.
After the completion of each shortlisting stage, the winners were then announced in November during Global Entrepreneurship Week, where they were given the once in a lifetime chance to help turn their innovative sustainability ideas into a reality!
