How do we show support for the people on the front lines of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic? There are many different ways organizations and brands are choosing to do it right now, whether it’s sending free pizzas to hospitals or donating millions of pounds of cleaning products to emergency efforts. For The University of Vermont Medical Center, an organization that employs many of these frontline workers, it was about giving the community a way to express their gratitude.
The UVMMC serves more than a million residents at their six hospitals and hospice and healthcare centers across Vermont and Northern New York. They employ 1,000 doctors and 2,000 nurses and wanted to show these healthcare workers just how appreciated they were. They devised a way to share positivity and gratitude online with their #ThanksHealthHeroes campaign.
#ThanksHealthHeroes social wall
Making great use of a social wall containing User-Generated Content (UGC), UVMMC offered a form fill-out to the community served by the health network and the response was immediate. From former patients and workers all the way up to the Vermont Senate, kind thoughts and messages of gratitude, along with drawings and images, were shared with the workers.
This Gratitude Gallery social wall is easily accessible online for healthcare workers to view and for the community to contribute. The social wall also hosts a place to offer support to the UVM Medical Center’s COVID-19 patients, families, and frontline caregivers by donating to the COVID-19 Response Fund.
How to create a social wall
As well as a whole library of data gathering activations, Marigold Grow supports the collection and utilization of social content. All this social advocacy can be collected, curated, and published in less than 20 minutes. “But how?” I hear you ask. By following these two easy steps:
Step 1
Set up a “Collection” within the “Content” area of your Experiences account. It is from this area where you can create social feeds that bring in content from various social networks. All items brought in can be easily moderated as you see fit.
Step 2
Once you have an active “Collection” this content can be displayed on one of our social walls. In a new OR existing Experience, simply drag and drop the “Social Wall” or “Collage” module onto one of your pages. Then select the “Collection” you just created in the drop-down menu within “Settings.” Finally, choose a layout — or create a custom one via “Collage” — and embed it in your final publishing destination.
And just like that, a social wall is up and running, collecting User Generated Content and, in the case of UVMMC, sharing words of gratitude and cheer to essential frontline workers.
