&pizza serves communities across the east coast, including New York City, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. After watching Coronavirus disrupt daily life and hospital workers risk their lives to help on the front line, &pizza saw a way they could help. They decided to pivot from being a pizza restaurant to a pizza helper by immediately mobilizing their 37 retail locations and staff to prepare and deliver thousands of free pizza pies to hospitals and frontline workers. Three locations have been converted to “Hero Kitchens” solely to focus on serving up their hot and delicious pizzas to hungry hospital staff.
&pizza: Feeding frontline heroes
To support the frontline workers in the hospitals — everyone from doctors and nurses to administration and cleaning staff — &pizza is giving away free “Hero Pies.” Offering free contactless delivery and even deploying mobile kitchen units to hospitals, &pizza is helping to relieve some of the load on the shoulders of frontline workers by making sure they’re well-fed.
Here’s how it works
- Hospital workers text “#HERO: and a picture of their hospital ID to 200-03.
- &pizza sends a code for a free pizza to the hospital workers
- Workers then redeem their free pizza by ordering through &pizza’s website or app.
After over 20,000 donated pies (and growing!), &pizza is inviting others to help their cause with their Hero Pie Pay It Forward program.
This isn’t the first time &pizza has shown their dedication to serving their communities in times of need. They’ve ranked on the Fast Company Most Innovative Companies for Social Good list twice, and have donated their pizza on multiple occasions, including to furloughed workers during the government shutdown.
Cheetah Digital by Marigold is honored to work with an organization that has such a great mission focused on serving their community in difficult times. We’ve donated 500 pies to hospital frontline workers through &pizza’s program and hope you will too.
